After graduating with a degree in Philosophy and Politics, and with an interest in international trade, I spent five years in Asia and London trading currencies. My day involved relentlessly putting together multi-million pound deals at high pace between investment banks. I then went to work for one of those banks for another five years, looking after high-net-worth individuals and corporates looking to transact in the financial markets. I relied on technology, low-latency trading systems and advanced communication tools at all times. At one point I had seven screens! On top of the exposure to tech in this industry, creating and building a network of clients was imperative to success.
I'm a people person with a thirst for creating partnerships, making deals and building business. The tech industry has brilliant momentum, I can feel that. It's buzzing with people looking to explore ways to innovate and progress and improve their business. What _nology is doing in bridging the tech skills gap is worthwhile. I'm here to make that vision become more apparent.
To interact with students from all backgrounds and watch them grow into software/web developers and designers is fantastic. I'm with them at events, constantly interacting with business to create training and hiring partnerships too.
This is work I want to do, it generates ideas in me and I'm excited to make _nology and the industry come together and improve.
