APPLYING TO OUR PROGRAM
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are proud to say that our _nologists are: 48% women + non-binary, 75% over the age of 25, 11% LGBTQIA+, 61% culturally and linguistically diverse, 44% with non-STEM backgrounds, and 87% with non-tech backgrounds.
The _nology program is best suited to individuals with at least 2 years of professional experience, noting that 87% of our _nologists are career changers! Most importantly, we look for people with overall potential, aptitude to learn, and a personal passion for building a new career in tech. Our only requirements are that you have eligibility to work in Australia for a 2-year period, and ability to work onsite in Sydney or Melbourne.
Our specialised training is intensive, which is why we ensure individuals who are accepted into the program are ready for 12 weeks of fast-paced learning. Whilst you don’t need a background in tech, there are a few key skills we’ll be looking out for, including self-development, intellectual horsepower, learning on the fly, curiosity, honesty, integrity, problem-solving ability, and an encouraging/ sharing mentality.
Once you’ve submitted an application, our assessment process has two stages that assess skills in communication, problem solving, teamwork and aptitude to learn. Upon completion of each stage, a selection of applicants will be invited to progress to the next stage. Here’s what to expect:
Stage 1 | Skills Assessment – An online assessment where you’ll be asked a series of logic and behavioural style questions to be answered in several formats like multiple choice, video, and text.
Stage 2 | Group Assessment – You’ll meet other like-minded individuals, take part in a beginners training session on JavaScript (one of the coding languages we teach), and get involved in a group problem-solving activity.
We encourage you to watch our 3min Coding Explained video for an overview of what coding is, and the types of programming languages we teach. You’ll see that building a website or app requires many different elements and skills that are foundational to becoming a developer.
